Powell’s new self- penned single "Steppin' Out" is #2 on Billboards Smooth Jazz Most Added chart after only debuting for 2 weeks. The track features keyboardist Shaun Martin (from Grammy Award Winning Group Snarky Puppy), hot new flutist Althea Rene (who opens the song with a haunting melody), R & B singer/songwriter Gary Taylor on scat vocals and Kelley O’Neal on sax. On this new project, Powell fuses dance, pop, funk, hip hop & jazz together to bring us a fresh new sound that elevates his music to the next level.His jazz/funk/rock sound finally gives us a real taste of why legendary singer Luther Vandross penned him... “This man is the Doctor”.
